Where can I train for HYROX in Utah County?

By Tyson Evans · Boom Fitness Culture · Updated 2026-09-05
You can train for HYROX at Boom Fitness Culture in Lehi and Pleasant Grove — the Saturday class is a full-body circuit, cardio and HYROX session, and the sleds, rowers, wall balls, farmers carries and SkiErg-style conditioning that make up the race are on the floor all week. HYROX Salt Lake City runs September 18–20, 2026 at the Salt Palace, and it's the fastest-growing fitness race in the world.

Sled pushes, carries and wall balls are the HYROX stations. They're also Wednesday and Saturday at Boom.

What is HYROX, exactly?

HYROX is a fitness race: eight 1-kilometer runs, each followed by a functional workout station — SkiErg, sled push, sled pull, burpee broad jumps, row, farmers carry, sandbag lunges and wall balls. Everyone does the same course, times are compared worldwide, and you can enter solo, doubles or as a relay. Search interest in HYROX is up more than 250% this year, which is why you're suddenly hearing about it from people who've never called themselves athletes.

When is HYROX in Utah?

HYROX Salt Lake City is September 18–20, 2026 at the Salt Palace Convention Center — about 35 minutes north of Lehi. Registration and the day-by-day schedule are on hyrox.com. If you're reading this in September, you have two weeks; if you're reading it later, the fall North America schedule usually repeats, and the training is the same either way.

Is functional circuit training good HYROX prep?

It's close to ideal, because HYROX is functional circuit training with a run between stations. A Boom week already covers the pieces: Monday and Thursday build the legs that sled pushes and lunges run on, Tuesday and Friday build the pressing and pulling for wall balls, the row and the SkiErg, Wednesday's full-body circuit is conditioning under fatigue, and Saturday is the whole thing put together — circuit, cardio and HYROX-style stations, coached, at 8:30am at both gyms.

What should a beginner do in the 8 weeks before a race?

Three to four coached classes a week, Saturday every week, and two easy runs of 3–5 km on your own. Don't add extra hard sessions — the mistake most first-timers make is training the stations to exhaustion and arriving at the race tired. The stations are heavy and simple; the run is what decides your time. Scale every station in class (lighter sled, fewer wall balls) and let the coach add weight week by week.

Where in Utah County can I do sled work, wall balls and carries?

Boom Fitness Culture has sleds, wall balls, rowers, bikes, kettlebells and open turf at both locations — 564 W 700 S Ste. 304 in Pleasant Grove and 1657 N State St. in Lehi — and members have 24/7 access, so you can do a station session at 9pm if that's when you have time. Several CrossFit affiliates in the county also run HYROX-style conditioning; if you're already a member somewhere, ask your coach to program the eight stations in order once a week.

Can I train for HYROX if I've never done a fitness race?

Yes — that's most of the field. Most Boom members had never done a coached class before their first one. Your first week at Boom is free, so the honest plan is: come Saturday, do the HYROX session scaled, and decide whether the race is for you with real information instead of a video.
